Philosophy
Behind many great works is a simple beginning: someone grew bored, followed an odd question, or made something eccentric just to see what would happen. We love that story. We think boredom is not a flaw in the process, but a condition for it.
In an age where attention is scarce and distraction is engineered, boredom has almost disappeared from our minds. Recent tech breakthroughs add another layer: tools have become talkative colleagues with unearned confidence. Real-time collaboration brings constant pings and interruptions. The venture-capital pressure pushes products to absorb every fashionable keyword, swelling into bloated Swiss-army-knife platforms. Features multiply. Quality lags. User needs come second to investor narratives.
We take boringness seriously — especially in tools meant for thinking. “A computer is a bicycle for the mind.” When you ride a bicycle well, it disappears. You’re no longer operating it; you’re simply in motion. We pursue that same vanishing. A tool should recede until the mind stands alone — unoccupied, free, even bored. Otherwise, the tools end up riding us.
